Airbus to start building jets in United States

European plane manufacturer Airbus has confirmed plans for a $600m (£482m) factory in Alabama - its first assembly plant in the US.

The plant which is due to open in 2015, will build up to 50 jets a year.

It will be in direct competition with Boeing which dominates commercial plane manufacturing in the US.
