Wet start to Francois Hollande's reign as president
Francois Hollande has been sworn in as president of France, becoming the first Socialist leader in 17 years to occupy the Elysee Palace.
Following his inauguration, Mr Hollande rode up the Champs Elysees in an open-topped car, waving to the crowd despite the rain.
He will later fly to Berlin for talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The BBC's Simon McCoy and Martine Croxall report.
