Montecristo crew foiled pirates with message in a bottle

Help

The commander of the Royal Navy counter-pirate task group who was on board the ship that rescued the Montecristo from pirates earlier in the week described how the mission was accomplished.

Speaking to Radio 5 live Breakfast, Captain Jerry Northwood said his crew received a message from the crew that the cargo ship had been attacked by Somali pirates 550 miles away.

After a long journey to reach the ship, the eleven pirates on board put down their weapons and surrended peacefully when they saw the Nato warship approaching.
