Hugh Davies, head teacher at Olchfa, said everyone at the school was shocked and saddened by the death.

"At this time we are unaware of the circumstances that led to his death but we are acutely aware of how it will affect his friends, his teachers and the wider school community," he said.

"We have put in place appropriate support for pupils and teachers who are affected by this tragedy.

"It is impossible to describe the sense of grief we feel for his family and our hearts go out to them at this time. There is nothing we can say to take away their pain.

"He has been taken away from them, from us, in the most tragic of circumstances and we are all struggling to come to terms with it."

The school will close at 13:00 BST on Friday as a mark of respect.
