Llandeilo road crash: Elderly woman, 91, dies after collision

A 91-year-old woman has died following a road crash in Carmarthenshire.

She was travelling in a red Suzuki Alto car with an 89-year-old woman which was in collision with a grey Ford Focus in Llandeilo around 11:40 GMT on Sunday.

Both women, from Llandeilo, suffered serious injuries and were taken to Morriston Hospital, Swansea, where the 91-year-old later died.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the crash at the junction of Bridge Street and Church Street.

The main A40 through Llandeilo was closed for several hours while police carried out their investigations.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the families of the two women had been informed and have asked witnesses to contact the Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit by phoning 101.
