Swansea rape and robbery admitted by Daniel Keith James

A 21-year-old man has admitted raping and robbing a woman in a car park in Swansea.

Daniel Keith James, of The Strand, Swansea, also admitted threatening the woman while having an offensive weapon, Swansea Crown Court was told.

James carried out the assault near Swansea Civic Centre at 17:40 GMT on 20 November as the woman walked to her car.

He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on 17 January 2014.

Det Insp Dave Hough of South Wales Police said: "This was a very serious incident which understandably caused a lot of public concern, particularly in the city centre.

"I would like to thank all the members of the public who responded to our appeals by contacting us with information."
