Whitland and Kilgetty robberies target elderly people

Two men have been arrested by police investigating two robberies and a burglary in west Wales.

Dyfed-Powys Police said elderly people in Whitland and Kilgetty were targeted in a series of incidents on Thursday afternoon and evening.

One of the victims suffered a minor injury, officers said.

The two suspects, aged 22 and 20, appeared before a special court on Friday where police were given a further 36 hours to question them.

The force said it would review the situation on Sunday morning.

In a statement, police said: "Thankfully incidents such as these are very uncommon in the Dyfed-Powys area, but if they do occur the police take them extremely seriously and investigate thoroughly to bring any offenders to justice.

"We are providing the victims with support and our Bobby Van scheme is providing free security measures in the properties affected."
