Dog walker, 75, critical after motorcycle collision in Llansamlet, Swansea

A 75-year-old woman is critically ill in hospital after she was hit by a motorbike as she walked her dog, say police.

The rider fled the scene at Samlet Road in Llansamlet, Swansea on foot, officers said.

The 36-year-old man was later arrested and a white Yamaha R1 sports motorcycle found in the car park of the Dylan Thomas pub.

The woman's dog was killed in the collision at about 06:55 BST.

The woman was taken to the city's Morriston Hospital where she is in a critical condition. Her family have been informed.

Officers want to hear from witnesses, particularly people in vehicles travelling up Samlet Road at the time of the collision.

They said they believed people in a dark Ford Fiesta, a silver Citroen C4 and a black BMW 1 series car travelling towards Peniel Green Road may be able to help.

They also want to speak to the driver of a white Ford Transit-type van which was seen in the area and stopped at the scene, near Samlet Social Club.

Witnesses are asked to contact the roads policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
