Injured kayaker airlifted from Whitesands, Pembrokeshire

An injured kayaker has been airlifted to hospital from a beach near St David's in Pembrokeshire.

RNLI lifeguards on Whitesands Beach raised the alarm at 11:13 BST when the man came ashore complaining of chest, back and neck pain.

An ambulance and an air ambulance were called but it became clear that the man needed to be winched from the beach.

A rescue helicopter from RAF Chivenor, Devon, arrived and the man was flown to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.
