A thunderstorm has brought torrential rain and lightning causing road and rail problems in south west Wales.

A house near Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, was damaged after being hit by lightning and power outages affected homes on Friday afternoon.

Rail equipment was struck by lightning affecting train services between Milford Haven and Carmarthen.

Torrential rain and hail caused treacherous driving conditions and the A40 was flooded near Whitland.

Mid and West Wales fire crews used salvage sheeting, ropes and ladders to stabilise the roof of the house damaged in the village of Freystrop at 15:07 BST.

An ambulance was also called to the incident as a precaution but no-one was injured.

Buses replaced trains between Milford Haven and Carmarthen for a time, but the rail service was later reinstated albeit with some delays.
