Haverfordwest: Disturbance with man on ledge ends

A disturbance involving a man on the ledge of a property in the centre of Haverfordwest has ended after more than 24 hours, say police.

Police thanked the public for patience after Bridge Street in the town centre was shut and the area cordoned off.

A man was said on Friday to be "very agitated".

Dyfed-Powys Police had asked people to avoid travelling through the area but the incident was brought to an end on Saturday afternoon.

"This was a protracted and complex incident, which necessitated the attendance of many officers including specialist officers," said a force spokesman.

"We recognise that the cordoning off of the area caused disruption to local businesses and the public but this was the minimum necessary to ensure the safety of everyone in the area - which was our main priority."

"We thank the public and business owners in the area for their co-operation, assistance and patience during this incident."

A 25-year-old man was arrested and is being questioned by police.
