Power cut as line snapped near Loughor viaduct, Swansea
Parts of Swansea were left without power after a crane on a barge snapped a high-voltage power line near the Loughor viaduct.
The line was brought down in the incident at about 09:30 BST on Friday, cutting off supplies to some 18,000 customers from Gorseinon to Morriston.
All power was restored within an hour of the incident.
Work was being carried out on the viaduct as part of Network Rail's upgrade programme.
Western Power Distribution said it re-routed power to restore supplies.
Robbie Burns, of Network Rail, said: "Around 09:30 this morning, a barge involved in Network Rail's investment project to increase train capacity across the Loughor viaduct near Swansea was involved in an incident.
"It came into contact with the overhead power lines of Western Power that span the river close to the viaduct. No-one was hurt."
He said an investigation was under way and apologised to residents and businesses affected.
The Health and Safety Executive and the Office of Rail Regulation have been informed.
