Morriston Hospital ambulance transfer delays apology

A health board has apologised for delays which left ambulances having to wait to transfer patients to Swansea's Morriston Hospital on Wednesday night.

Abertawe Bro Morgannwg LHB said it was a "very busy" night in the emergency unit following the Jubilee bank holiday.

It said a high number of patients attended the department which caused delays.

But it added it was working with the ambulance service to reduce delays.

A spokesperson said: "Following a very busy bank holiday the emergency department at Morriston Hospital again experienced a very busy night with a high number of patients attending the department.

"Unfortunately, this led to delays in treatment for some patients and we apologise to those patients.

"Our staff worked very hard throughout the night to reduce the waiting time for both patients and ambulances, and we continue to work closely with the ambulance service to reduce delays."
