Cardiff pair found dead at foot of Beachy Head cliffs

Sussex Police are investigating the deaths of a man and a woman from Cardiff whose bodies were found at the bottom of cliffs at Beachy Head.

The man is believed to be a 58-year-old and the woman, aged 81.

Coastguards spotted the man's body on Wednesday morning. The woman's body was then found a short distance away.

Police think the pair arrived at Beachy Head in a black Vauxhall Vectra at about 08:30 GMT. It was found in the car park at the top of the cliffs.

Det Insp Mark O'Brien said: "We are trying to establish the exact circumstances of these sad deaths and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the couple on or near Beachy Head at any time on Wednesday morning.

"We think that they may have stayed locally the night before and again would like to hear from anyone who may have seen them."
