Second Flintshire landfill site decision delayed

Councillors in Flintshire have deferred making a decision on plans for a second landfill site in Buckley.
They said they needed more information as the need to dump millions of tonnes of household waste in a quarry at Alltami had not been proved.
Councillors were taken on a tour of the site before considering the planning application.
There were strong objections as another tip at nearby Parry's Quarry had already been given the go-ahead.
Work is under way in readiness for that site opening next year.
Council officials had recommended the new application was approved.
But objectors, including the owners of the first site, disputed the need for another tip and said with more and more waste being recycled, the quarries could be only partly filled.
Local people are worried that noise, dust and smells will affect their health, but a report to the council's planning committee said strict conditions would be in place to prevent any problem.
