Girl airlifted from Pendine beach to Swansea hospital

A two-year-old girl has been airlifted from Pendine sands, near Llanelli, by air ambulance to Morriston hospital, near Swansea, with head injuries.

The child, who was conscious, was taken to the hospital as a precaution by the Wales Air Ambulance, based at Swansea.

The hospital said she was in a comfortable condition and her injuries are not thought to be serious.

Coastguards said the girl had hurt her head after falling near the lifeguard station at around 1100BST.

The ambulance crew was assisted by Tenby coastguard and lifeguards.
