An RAF Hawk jet has made an emergency landing at Cardiff Airport after it hit a bird during a training flight.

The aircraft was diverted to the airport at Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan late on Wednesday morning.

Another jet flying with it returned to the RAF Valley base on Anglesey.

An airport spokeswoman said the Hawk T1 had landed uneventfully and no-one had been injured, but the airport had put its emergency procedures in place as a precaution.
