Car crashes on to Barry rail line, two people rescued

Two people have been rescued after the car they were travelling in crashed onto railway tracks in Barry.

The car smashed through railings, before coming to rest on the railway line embankment.

Firefighters released the casualties using hydraulic cutting equipment, before they were treated by paramedics.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 12:50 BST to the incident in Park Avenue near Barry Island.

Two crews removed the vehicle from the embankment using a winch and hydraulic cutting equipment.

Part of the one-way system in the town was closed.
