Arrests after three police officers assaulted at Brynmawr

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of assault and violent disorder after three Gwent Police officers were assaulted in Brynmawr.

The officers needed hospital treatment after an incident in Market Square at around 01:00 BST.

Three local people, two men aged 28 and 23, and a woman aged 23, are helping police with their inquiries.

A fourth man is also in custody arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

Det Insp Paul Davies said it was "completely unacceptable" officers were hurt while doing their job.

The officers were released after receiving treatment at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
