Woman remanded over Ynysybwl fire manslaughter charge

A woman charged with manslaughter after the death of a 46-year-old man following a flat fire has been remanded in custody.

Rebecca Jenkins, 28, of Swansea, appeared before Merthyr magistrates.

She is also charged with arson recklessly endangering the lives of others and was remanded until 27 May.

The man was rescued from the fire in Ynysybwl, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at about 20:25 BST on Friday but died at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

He suffered smoke inhalation but has not been formally identified and an investigation into the incident is continuing.
