A Newport man has been charged with the murder of 21-year-old Jessica Watkins.

Her body was discovered by police after they were called to a house in Bryn Bevan, in the Brynglas area of the city, on Monday.

The family of Miss Watkins from Caerleon said she was very loved and would be greatly missed.

A 27-year-old man is due to appear before Newport Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A tribute from Miss Watkins's family said: "She was tragically taken from us to soon. She will always be loved by us all."

Police said on Monday they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination is due to take place to determine the cause of death.
