Lorry driver seriously injured in A449 crash

A lorry driver has suffered serious injuries after his vehicle hit a central reservation and overturned.

The crash happened on the A449 between Usk and Coldra in Newport at about 06:10 BST on Monday.

Gwent Police believe the driver lost control. He was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol with severe arm and head injuries.

The road is closed and diversions are in place while police investigate and the vehicle is recovered.
