Eight in hospital after Bridgend horse box road crash

Eight people were taken to hospital following a road traffic collision involving two cars and a horse box near Bridgend.

Emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway of the M4 motorway between junctions 36 Sarn and 37 at Pyle at 21:05 GMT on Monday.

A horse box being towed by a red Nissan Terrano came loose when it was in collision with a grey Vauxhall Insignia, which left the road and ended up on its roof.

One person was rescued by firefighters.

All those involved where taken to hospital and one woman, 35, sustained serious injuries, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said.

Police said the horses involved in the incident were unharmed.
