Two months since a Newport teenager disappeared from outside her family home her whereabouts remain a mystery.

Nida Naseer, 19, went missing after putting the bins out on the evening of Saturday 28 December.

She was not wearing shoes and did not have her phone, money or coat with her.

Gwent Police said officers are sifting through a "massive amount" of CCTV and are still running a dedicated incident room which is permanently staffed.

In the weeks following Nida's disappearance from her home at about 20:00 GMT in Linton Street, Pill, on 28 December police received 50 calls reporting possible sightings across the UK but none was confirmed.

Officers have investigated 545 lines of inquiry and taken 114 statements.

Four Urdu and Punjabi language specialists from Greater Manchester, Thames Valley and Metropolitan police forces have also helped with the investigation.

Since the beginning of February there has been only one reported potential sighting and that was outside the Gwent Police area, but it has not been confirmed.

Nida's family has made a number of public appeals to her to return home, including one on the eve of her 19th birthday on 25 January.

Her family sought asylum after coming to the UK from Pakistan five years ago but their application was turned down a year ago. They have appealed.

Nida's relatives have said she was depressed for two years before disappearing and believe she vanished because their asylum-seeker status barred her from attending university.

She was also jealous of a friend who had been granted asylum and allowed to attend university, according to her family. She wants to pursue a career as a marketing or finance manager, her family has said.

Nida was last seen wearing jeans and a black top. She has long dark hair, is slim and 5ft 3in (1.6m) tall.
