A blaze in the sauna of a leisure centre which forced around 50 people to be evacuated was accidental, fire investigators say.

The alarm was raised at Penarth Leisure Centre, Vale of Glamorgan, on Sunday afternoon with swimmers having to leave the pool.

Some 35 firefighters tackled the blaze, which took almost four hours to put out.

South Wales Fire and Rescue said the investigation was now complete.

Leisure centre customers had tried to put out the fire but were forced back when the blaze took hold.

The leisure centre is due to remain closed all week.
