Pedestrian in serious condition after collision in Ely, Cardiff

An elderly pedestrian has been taken to hospital in Cardiff after he was seriously injured in a collision with a recovery vehicle, say police.

The incident, involving a yellow Iveco truck, happened on Mill Road, Ely at about 12:35 GMT on Saturday.

The man suffered multiple injuries and is in a serious condition at the University Hospital of Wales.

The road was closed for about five hours for initial investigations.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who stopped at the scene to help.

Police would also like to speak to anyone who witnessed the movements of the pedestrian or the vehicle before the collision and have not yet come forward.
