A man has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a man at a house in Caerphilly county.

Ian Davies, 27, died in hospital after he was injured in Trinant, near Newbridge, on Saturday.

Paul Mapps, 27, of Trinant, appeared at Newport Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The case was adjourned and the defendant will appear before either Cardiff or Newport Crown Court in the next two days.

A 26-year-old man and two women aged 22 and 30, who were initially arrested on suspicion of murder, had earlier been released on bail, Gwent Police said.
