Driver, 21, killed in A4042 crash at Abergavenny

A 21-year-old car driver has been killed in a crash involving four vehicles in Monmouthshire.

The collision happened at 18:50 BST on Monday on the A4042 between Llanellen Bridge and the Hardwick roundabout at Abergavenny.

Two other drivers were treated for minor injuries but later released from hospital. A fourth driver was unhurt.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision which closed the road for several hours.

The collision involved two heavy goods vehicles, a blue Ford Focus and a Vauxhall Combo van.

The driver of the Focus was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to call 101 quoting log 449 09/09/13.

In a separate incident, one person died and another was seriously injured in a crash on the A449 between Newport and Usk on Monday afternoon.
