Pedestrian dies in car collision on Ely Valley Road in Rhondda

A pedestrian has died after a collision with a car in Rhondda.

The incident happened while he was walking along Ely Valley Road, near Porth, on Thursday at 21:39 BST.

It involved a brown Seat Ibiza travelling south from Thomastown towards Coed Ely.

The pedestrian, who police said was wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans, suffered "extensive" injuries and was taken to hospital where he was was pronounced dead.

South Wales Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said the driver was helping officers with their inquiries.
