Miskin crash: Police appeal after man, 24, is killed

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died after a collision with a car in the south Wales valleys.

The pedestrian, aged 24, from Gilfach Goch, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was hit at around 01:30 BST on Saturday on the A4119 at Miskin, north of the junction with School Road.

He was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant where he later died. His family have been informed.

South Wales Police said the incident involved a red Ford Focus car.

A spokesman said: "At this time it is not believed that any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

'Vehicle'

"The police would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision or stopped to provide assistance, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle being driven or the pedestrian walking prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details."

The coroner has been informed and a police family liaison officer is supporting the dead man's next of kin.
