M4 Bridgend motorway accident: One airlifted to hospital
One person has been airlifted to hospital after a crash involving a van and a lorry on the M4 near Bridgend.
The incident happened at about 18:10 BST on Friday westbound between junctions 36 (Sarn) and 37 (Pyle).
For a time both carriageways were closed to allow access for emergency services including the Wales Air Ambulance.
The motorway was open again in both directions by 19:30 BST, but with only one lane open westbound.
A South Wales Police spokesman said: "We were called at 1830 hours with reports of a collision between a Volvo articulated lorry and a white Mercedes Sprinter van.
"One male casualty was evacuated by helicopter with what was initially thought be potentially life threatening head injuries.
"Examination in hospital revealed his injuries were not life threatening."
