Cardiff assault: Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following what police describe as a serious assault.

The incident happened outside the Lynx Hotel on Newport Road in Cardiff at 10:30 GMT on Sunday.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, suffered serious neck injuries and has had surgery at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he remains.

South Wales Police said a man was arrested shortly after the incident.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
