Search for man seen falling into River Wye at Chepstow resuming

The search for a man seen falling into the River Wye in Monmouthshire is continuing later.

Gwent Police were alerted at 14:46 GMT on Tuesday to an incident in Chepstow and a major operation was launched.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Avon and Somerset Police helicopter, the Severn Area Rescue Association inshore rescue boat and Chepstow coastguard were all involved.

The man was seen falling into the water from the A48 road bridge over the Wye.

The search was halted when darkness fell on Tuesday but police said it would resume in the morning.
