The family of a man who died when his off-road motorcycle crashed near Bridgend on New Year's Eve says he died doing something he loved.

Dwain Gareth Joyce, 29, from Pontycymer, was killed in a crash in Gwendoline Street, Blaengarw, at 15:07 GMT on Monday.

Police said there were not thought to be any other road users involved.

Mr Joyce's family paid tribute to him saying he was an "energetic, outgoing person with a love of life".

In a statement they said: "He will be sorely missed as a son, brother and partner and has tragically died doing something he loved.

"We want to thank everyone for their help and support and ask, as a family, that we be given time to grieve."

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and have appealed for witnesses who may have seen or heard the vehicle involved.
