Man critical after Cardiff M4 eastbound lorry crash

Two men have been taken to hospital, one with critical injuries, after an accident involving a lorry and several cars on the M4 near Cardiff.

Emergency services say the eastbound lanes were closed after the lorry left the road between junction 30 at Cardiff Gate and junction 29 for the A48M.

Most of the traffic which was caught up behind the accident has since been released.

Both men have been taken to University of Wales Hospital in Cardiff.

Gwent Police said it was alerted at 06:07 GMT about the collision involving a 17.5 tonne HGV and the private cars.

The eastbound carriageway has now re-opened.
