Cwmbran baby death: Couple arrested on murder suspicion

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a one-month-old baby girl in Cwmbran.

The ambulance service alerted Gwent Police after attending to Amelia Jones at an address in the Pontnewydd area of the town at 22:35 GMT on Saturday.

She was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport, and then to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, but died on Monday.

A 43-year-old man and 24-year-old woman are being held in police custody.

Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the baby's death.
