A CCTV image has been released of a man wanted in connection with a theft from a railway depot in Newport.

Property was stolen from Network Rail's Crindau depot on Tuesday, 18 September and one man was seen entering the premises and taking an item before running out of the yard.

A 32-year-old from Risca has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on bail.

Officers now want to speak to the man in the picture.

"We believe this man may have key information which can assist the investigation," said investigating officer Pc Alun Derrick.

"I would like to appeal to the public to come forward with any information they may have in relation to this incident, and particularly anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image.

"I would also urge anyone who sees anything suspicious in the area to contact police immediately."

British Transport Police said anyone who knows the man's identity, or his current whereabouts, can contact 0800 40 50 40 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
