An electric gate which killed a five-year-old girl had had its motor changed twice before her death, an inquest jury has heard.

Karolina Golabek was crushed by the gate fitted at the new flats where she lived in Bridgend on 3 July 2010.

The second motor which was fitted to the gate in Brook Court was twice as strong as the previous model, the hearing was told.

The inquest continues at Aberdare.

The hearing was told that Karolina was last seen by her father at 4pm on that day.

She was rescued by a resident of the flats half an hour later.

She was taken to the town's Princess of Wales Hospital, where she died.

The inquest heard that the gates had been installed in September 2006.

lan Tilley, from Automation Gates Ltd, said a new motor had been fitted in May 2008.

But there was a further issue in May, June and July 2009, and a second new motor was installed.
