Firefighters have tackled a large blaze in a disused building in the centre of Newport.

The fire broke out on Saturday in the roof space of the four-storey property in Commercial Street and spread throughout the building.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, who received the call at 22:37 BST, said the flames did not spread from the commercial building to nearby property.

Roads were cordoned off while the fire was dealt with. Nobody was injured.
