Bridgend: rail death inquiry after man's body found

The body of a man has been found on tracks near Bridgend station, prompting an investigation by British Transport Police.

The discovery was made by a train driver at 08:21 BST on Saturday.

Officers have been at the scene throughout the morning and say the death is being treated as "unexplained".

The inquiry has led to train service delays and passengers are being advised to check travel arrangements.

A police spokesperson said: "British Transport Police are currently dealing with an incident at Bridgend railway station after receiving reports from a train driver of a man's body on the tracks just outside the station.

"Officers are currently at the scene working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death, which is currently being treated as unexplained."
