A 16-year-old boy accused of murdering a schoolgirl found dead in woodland has failed in a bid to be freed on bail.

The body of Rebecca Aylward, 15, from Maesteg, near Bridgend, was found in nearby Aberkenfig on Sunday.

The boy, 16, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before a High Court judge at a brief hearing in Cardiff on Thursday.

He was again remanded to secure accommodation and is due back in court next Wednesday.

On Wednesday the boy had made his first court appearance, when he was remanded in secure accommodation.
