Former Caerphilly council leader Allan Pritchard dies

The former Plaid Cymru leader of Caerphilly council, Allan Pritchard, has died after battling cancer.

He led the council in 2011 but lost his seat when Labour took control of the authority a year later.

Paying tribute, Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood said his "dedication, belief and ability to inspire and enthuse others was incomparable".

Mr Pritchard, who was 71, lived in Oakdale. He leaves a widow, Pauline, two daughters and three grandchildren.
