Solar panel farm set for Kinmel Bay site
An electricity-generating solar panel farm could be developed on a 45 hectare (111 acres) site in Conwy county.
The company behind proposals says it has already held talks with Kinmel Estate to use land between Kinmel Bay and the A55 dual carriageway.
Solar farm developer Haymaker Energy says it will hold a public consultation in the next few months before submitting firm plans to Conwy council.
The developer says the site could generate power for about 7,000 homes.
It was selected due to cables already installed nearby to allow connection to the National Grid.
Pembrokeshire became the first council in Wales to grant planning permission for a solar farm at Rhos-y-Gilwen Mansion, in the north of the county, in January 2011.
Plans to develop other solar panel farms are also being pushed forward, including one covering 90 hectares (222 acres) next to Deeside Industrial Estate in Flintshire with 180,000 panels, enough to produce electricity for 11,000 homes annually.
