Knifeman jailed over Llandudno shop robbery attempt

Shane Anthony Williams Shane Williams was jailed at Mold Crown Court on Friday

A man has been jailed for four and a half years for an attempted knifepoint robbery at a Llandudno shop.

The shop assistant was "extremely brave" to challenge Shane Williams, 25, from St Asaph, in January's incident, Mold Crown Court heard.

He admitted attempted robbery, possessing the knife and a separate house burglary last July.

The court was told he was angry the shop worker would not serve him with alcohol outside of licensing hours.

He left making threats and returned to the shop at Great Ormes Road brandishing a knife which he pointed at shop worker Marie Louise Hall, the court heard.

He threatened to slash her if she did not let go of a crate of cider he had picked up, but she stopped him taking the alcohol and ushered him out of the store.

He was arrested two hours later following a disturbance nearby where a knife was recovered, the hearing was told.
