Llandudno: Alexandra Hotel evacuated after fire in roof

Alexandra Hotel The fire broke out at the Grade II listed Alexandra Hotel on Sunday evening

A hotel in the north Wales resort of Llandudno was evacuated after a fire in its roof space.

Crews were called to the five storey Grade II listed Alexandra Hotel in the town centre at 20:11 BST on Sunday.

The blaze was in the roof space and five appliances and an aerial ladder were sent to Clonmel Street.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said all guests and staff were safely accounted for after a search. Nobody was injured.

Appliances were sent from Llandudno, Conwy, Colwyn Bay and Llanfairfechan, along with an aerial ladder platform and incident command unit from Rhyl.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets and a main jet to tackle the fire and search the hotel.

Mostyn Street was closed to traffic during the operation.
