A couple have been found safe after spending the night on a mountain in Snowdonia.

The pair from Surrey were winched to safety by a helicopter crew from Devil's Kitchen on the Glyder range.

The alarm was raised by a worried friend after they had been unable to walk off the mountain before dark on Monday due to icy conditions.

A rescue dog found the couple in the search involving Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue.

A spokesperson said the pair decided to spend the night in a bivouac shelter.

They were unhurt and winched aboard a helicopter from RAF Valley, Anglesey, in "bitterly cold" and windy conditions.
