Woman seriously injured in Conwy flat fire

Conwy fire Firefighters were called to blaze at Berry Street on Friday evening

A 34-year-old woman who was rescued from a flat fire in Conwy town centre is in a serious condition in a hospital intensive care unit.

A man of 36 escaped and is being receiving treatment for smoke inhalation after the fire at a first floor flat in Berry Street.

The owner of a nearby commercial premises who saw the smoke and flames raised the alarm at 17:18 GMT on Friday.

Fire and police are investigating.

Crews from Conwy and Llandudno were sent to the blaze.

Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera to rescue the woman and put out the fire.
