A Slovak man has appeared in court charged with murdering one of his countrymen in Gwynedd on Saturday.

Julius Hecko, 23, appeared before Caernarfon Crown Court accused of killing 42-year-old Branislav Gula at a property in Plassey Street, Bala.

Mr Hecko, a bakery worker, was remanded in custody until 7 January, 2013, and there was no application for bail.

North Wales Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward as inquiries continue.

Four other people arrested in connection with assisting an offender have been released on bail, and inquiries are continuing.
