A head teacher has been sacked after almost 15 months after she was suspended following a walkout by staff who said they could not work with her.

Anglesey County Council confirmed Ann Hughes' contract had been terminated at Ysgol Goronwy Owen, Benllech.

In August 2010, five out of the six teachers made a complaint about Mrs Hughes to the school's governors.

They upheld the complaint and devised an action plan but staff were unhappy and passed a no confidence vote.

The sixth stand-in head took charge of the school at the beginning of this month.

A spokesperson added: "The authority can confirm that the disciplinary procedure is fully concluded and that Mrs Ann J Hughes' employment has been terminated.

"The school and the authority are now in a position to recruit a new head teacher."
