Helicopter rescue for 57-year-old man on a fishing vessel off the Great Orme

A crew member has been airlifted to hospital after collapsing on a charter fishing boat off north Wales.

The coastguard was alerted on Monday afternoon by the skipper of the Conwy Star, which operates out of Conwy.

The 57-year-old casualty was airlifted to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor by a Sea King helicopter from 22 Squadron at RAF Valley.

A coastguard spokesperson said the vessel was off Llandudno's Great Orme at the time the man was taken ill.
